Kantha sari scarves are made using two layers of handpicked sari fabric, carefully paired piece-by-piece. These layers are stitched together in the style of kantha, in which our women artisans hand sew rows of tiny running stitch from end to end to provide strength and enable the recycling of saris. This kantha creates a rich, rippling effect across the fabric and adds a unique texture to the products.
Each artisan embroiders her name in Bengali on the corner of the scarf she has stitched, as an artist will sign their work.
Any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process.
