Olakira Necklace

Deriving its name from Swahili roots, our Olakira necklace was inspired by a clear, starry night. Made with crocheted semi-precious stone nuggets that are strung on square wooden beads, the piece is a lightweight statement beaded necklace. Despite being inspired by open skies, the earthy tones of the Olakira help keep it grounded.

Maya-Bazaar works with grass root level artisans who had given up their tradition of charakkam or handknotting to work as migrant labourers in Mumbai, India. Infusing their craft with modern designs and unique ideas, Mayabazaar continues to create individual pieces of jewellery and accessories. At Mayabazaar we encourage employment of women and provide support in health, education, savings, family planning and relationship counselling to our craftspeople.
