Tuareg Necklace

Tuareg features African key tags made in brass and handmade knots in vivid cotton yarn. This braided necklace is made with the lesser known technique of the gundikaam style of hand knotting.

These necklaces are individually crafted. Any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process.

Maya-Bazaar works with grass root level artisans who had given up their tradition of charakkam or hand knotting to work as migrant laborer in Mumbai, India. Infusing their craft with modern designs and unique ideas, Maya bazaar continues to create individual pieces of jewelry and accessories. At Maya bazaar we encourage employment of women and provide support in health, education, savings, family planning and relationship counselling to our craftspeople.
