Sakala Bracelet

The Sakala Bracelet pays homage to the earthly rhythms that ancient societies were deeply attuned to—the tides, the sun and moon, and nature’s continuous cycle of life. Its concentric circular motifs represent the interconnected elements of nature, with earthy brown symbolising the land, green reflecting the forest, and vibrant crochet shades evoking water, sky and wildlife. At the heart of the design is a central figure representing the individual woman, around whom these elements of life revolve.

Handcrafted using the traditional Charakkam hand-knotting technique, Sakala carries forward a craft once practised by grassroots artisans who had moved to Mumbai as migrant labourers. Maya Bazaar works closely with these craftspeople, bringing renewed purpose to their traditional skills by combining heritage techniques with contemporary designs and fresh ideas.

Beyond craftsmanship, each creation reflects Maya Bazaar’s commitment to women’s empowerment and artisan welfare, supporting craftspeople through initiatives focused on health, education, savings, family planning and relationship counselling. Every piece is individually crafted, making natural variations and irregularities an inherent part of its character and production process.
