Sakala Bracelet

Sakala is a homage to the earthly rhythms that ancient societies were deeply attuned to - the tides, the sun and moon, and nature's life cycle. The cyclical nature of existence is symbolized by the concentric circles, each representing a different facet of life - the brown of the earth, green of the forest, and colorful crochet of the water, sky and animals. At the heart of this piece is a single figure, the individual woman, around whom the elements of the world revolve. 

Maya-Bazaar works with grass root level artisans who had given up their tradition of charakkam or hand knotting to work as migrant laborer in Mumbai, India. Infusing their craft with modern designs and unique ideas, Maya bazaar continues to create individual pieces of jewelry and accessories. At Maya bazaar we encourage employment of women and provide support in health, education, savings, family planning and relationship counselling to our craftspeople.
